BRASS (Brothers And SiSters) Camp
BRASS (BRothers And SiSters) Camp is for siblings of children with cancer. It’s a week-long program with activities such as canoeing, arts & crafts, sports, and campfires, along with camaraderie and peer support. It also offers an open dialogue among campers and counselors to ensure siblings are enveloped in the same type of support as their parents and their brothers or sisters who are going through their cancer experience.
“Having BRASS for us was definitely a gamechanger… knowing we were surrounded by people going through the same thing. It was very easy to make friends at BRASS and no matter where you left things with that person you were able to easily pick your friendship right back up when you got back to camp. After our brother died, we still had a huge support of people who loved and cared about us and checked in on us to make sure we were doing well and having that was a big help in the early stages.“
BRASS Camp is open to campers 7-17 who have a brother or sister within 5 years of treatment (or 7 years of a bone marrow transplant), as well as bereaved sibs. Older teens are eligible to be CITs (counselors-in-training).
