Special Love, Inc. provides educational scholarships for young adults (ages 17–25) impacted by childhood cancer, including both survivors and their siblings. Past recipients are encouraged to apply again!

Our scholarships help fund the tuition and school fees of post-secondary education or vocational training for individuals who have been part of Special Love programming.

Potential Scholarships:

If you are a sibling of someone who faced childhood cancer, are an undergraduate junior or senior, or a graduate student, are pursuing a degree in agriculture, science/medicine, or nonprofit management, and have attended one of the following Special Love programs – BRASS Camp or BRASS Weekend – You are eligible for the following scholarship:

  • Hope Scholarship
    • Created by Jodi DeOms McKay (BRASS Camp Director) and Bryan DeOms in loving memory of their parents, Gary and Dianne DeOms. Both Gary and Dianne (Mama D) were passionate supporters of Special Love programming, with a special dedication to the brothers and sisters of children with cancer. This scholarship continues their legacy by supporting siblings as they pursue higher education in fields that reflect their professional experiences.
  • Hope Scholarship Details
    • Award Amount: Up to $2,000
    • Eligible Expenses: Tuition and school fees (scholarship funds are paid directly to the post-secondary institution)
    • Disbursement: Awarded funds are distributed in two equal installments in July and December
    • Applicants must have attended one or more of the Special Love programs listed to be eligible. Applications that do not meet this requirement will not be considered.

If you are a sibling of someone who faced childhood cancer and have attended one of the following Special Love programs – BRASS Camp or BRASS Weekend – You are eligible for the following scholarship:

  • The Sunder Rajan Memorial Scholarship
    • Created by Jyothi Raghavan (Special Love Board Member), in honor of her late brother Sunder—an extraordinary man whose spirit continues to inspire. Education was Sunder’s passion. This scholarship ensures that his belief in opportunity, learning, and hope will continue touching young lives for years to come.
  • Sunder Rajan Memorial Scholarship Details
    • Award Amount: $500
    • Eligible Expenses: Tuition and school fees
    • Applicants must have attended one or more of the Special Love programs listed to be eligible. Applications that do not meet this requirement will not be considered.
