Camp FAQ's
Coming to a Special Love camp this year? Here’s everything you need to know!
Where will I sleep?
You will be in one of our lodges, in a room with other kids your age. Each room has bunkbeds, a bathroom, and a sink.
What’s the food like?
Camp food includes all kinds of things, from hot dogs and hamburgers to pasta, chicken, French fries, and much more. We even have ice cream! If you have dietary restrictions or other food limitations, we can work with you to make sure you have enough to eat.
Can I bring my electronic device?
We strongly discourage the use of electronics at camp, in part because we don’t want you to lose them, but also because we try to keep you busy playing sports, making crafts, and talking with other campers.
Can I use my phone at camp?
You may use your cell phone on the trip to and from camp, but otherwise you will need to keep it safely stowed. Using it during camp is prohibited as we want to help you focus on making friends with your roommates and other campers.
What if I get bored?
We have a wide variety of activities at camp, but if none of them are appealing to you, we have areas at camp where you can do quiet activities, play games, or even watch a movie. Our days are FULL!
What if I get homesick?
Everybody misses home once in a while, so we hope you’ll talk with your room counselor or another adult if you start feeling particularly homesick. We can help!
What will I do all day at camp?
Our daily schedule includes camp classes like crafts, canoeing, and games, recreational options such as sports, swimming, and fishing, and evening adventures that include team competitions, scavenger hunts, and more. We end almost every day with a campfire where we sing, laugh, and share the highlights of the day.
What should I bring?
We’ll send a ‘What to Bring’ list prior to camp, which will include the types of clothing you’ll need, personal items, and handy items you might not think of.
