Cheryl Ringer

Senior Director of Finance

Cheryl Ringer serves as the Senior Director of Finance of Special Love, responsible for the financial aspects of the organization. Cheryl's role is to manage the finances to allow Special Love to accomplish and grow its mission to provide support and community for children with cancer and their families. Cheryl has been a financial leader in non-profit organizations for over 25 years. She was the CFO for Hospice of the Piedmont, Loudoun Medical Group, and Blue Ridge Hospice. She has extensive experience in non-profits, maximizing revenue while managing expenses. She has worked to grow various programs within the organizations while advocating for the non-profit community. Cheryl earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Shepherd College (now University) followed by obtaining her CPA licensure. Prior to her CFO experience she worked in public accounting for large regional firms in WV and VA which is where she developed her love and appreciation for all that non-profit communities were working to achieve. Cheryl felt called to Special Love after caring for both parents during COVID. Her father was in the early stages of cancer treatments during this time. She experienced the mental and physical toll cancer took on the patients and their family. When her dad passed away, she committed herself to finding an organization in which she could be an advocate for those suffering from cancer and their families. Finding Special Love has fulfilled that promise to her father. Cheryl states, "My dad would be delighted that there is such an amazing organization that serves children and their families with childhood cancer." When not at work, Cheryl enjoys camping, exploring the outdoors with her husband and two children, play cards with her mother, watching football, and living life!
