A Beautiful Day on the Greens for Special Love
On Friday, June 5, Special Love hosted our 2026 Annual Golf Tournament at a brand-new location — Shenandoah Valley Golf Club in Front Royal, Virginia — and what a day it was!
With a beautiful course, a full day of golf, delicious food, exciting raffle and 50/50 drawings, tournament awards, and plenty of laughter among friends, it was truly a fun-filled day in support of children with cancer and their families.
Even more exciting: thanks to the generosity of our golfers, sponsors, and volunteers, this year’s tournament raised more than $85,000 for Special Love’s camps and programs.
That incredible support helps make programs like Camp Fantastic, BRASS Camp for siblings, family weekends, young adult programs, emergency financial assistance, and scholarships possible.
Because of this community, children facing cancer can have the chance to just be kids. Siblings can feel seen and supported. Families can find connection with others who understand what they are going through. And in the middle of incredibly difficult moments, Special Love can continue offering friendship, courage, and hope.

A very special thank-you also goes to Shenandoah Valley Golf Club, especially Doug and Brandon, for their partnership and support over the past several months. Their team was wonderful to work with and helped make our first tournament at this new location such a success.
We also want to recognize our incredible Golf Committee. This tournament takes months of coordination, outreach, planning, and care, and we are so appreciative of the time and energy they gave to help make the day possible.
During lunch, we were honored to hear from Miss Emily Shannon – Miss Apple Valley 2026, who is competing for the title of Miss West Virginia this year. Emily attended Special Love’s sibling camp for many years and shared what Special Love has meant to her and her family. Her words were a powerful reminder of why this work matters — and why this community is so special.
We are so grateful for a wonderful day on the course — and even more grateful for the community that made it possible.
