Lisa Schmidt is an active volunteer in her community and has been a childhood cancer advocate since her daughter Amelia’s diagnosis in 2014. In addition to being on the board of Special Love, Lisa manages the operations of the Ronald McDonald Family Rooms at Inova Fairfax Hospital. She is also an active real estate agent with Century 21 Redwood Realty. Her current volunteer activities include the Animal Assisted Care program at Inova Fairfax Hospital and the Northern Virginia Therapeutic Riding Program in Clifton, VA. Lisa has also worked for Salient Content, Fairfax County Public Schools, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and conducted research at the RAND Corporation. She graduated with a BA in Biochemistry/Cell Biology from the University of California San Diego (1987), and an MPH (1992) and Ph.D. (2000) in Public Health from the University of California Los Angeles.
