Dave has been a familiar face at Special Love, Inc. and Camp Fantastic after turning a chance encounter with founders Tom and Sheila Baker into a 37-year career. He has helped Special Love provide a community of support to the families of Mid-Atlantic children with cancer since its inception in 1983. His favorite part of camp is the campfire circle, where he helps lead the songs and activities.

Dave has also been an active part of Rotary and the Children’s Oncology Camping Association (COCA) and has served as the President of both. He’s a deacon and a member of the choir at First Baptist Church of Winchester.

Dave grew up in central West Virginia and attended Alderson-Broaddus College and Mountain State University, where he majored in writing, political science, and strategic leadership. He is also an avid singer and lover of games, has three sons and two Labrador retrievers, and provides life support to a few other random animals from time to time.
