Octoberfest Weekend 2019
Octoberfest Family Weekend is one of the most highly anticipated events of the year! It’s the event that kicks off fall for our Special Love families, and this year was no different. We had 27 families join us for a full weekend of autumn activities for the whole family. Friday evening is our first social time, with families arriving at the 4-H Center in Front Royal, VA, arts and crafts, and our opening ceremony at Campfire. Saturday was a jam-packed day of activity! This year we shook things up and trekked to Wayside Farm Fun in Berryville, VA and everyone participated in hay rides, corn mazes, pumpkin cannons, pig races, and so much more! It was an incredible afternoon off-site, but the fun was just getting started! Back at the 4-H, we broke into classes including cooking, fishing, pumpkin carving, and more all before dinner time! After dinner it was time for wardrobe changes into our Halloween costumes for Campfire, and then it was on to Trunk or Treat and the Halloween Dance! Trunk or Treat boasted 7 themed trunk stops complete with costumed volunteers who totally rocked their theme and our spooky Halloween Dance even handed out costume awards! Everyone danced their sugar high off and settled in for a movie or a game of dodgeball, and our parents shared some time together at our “coffehouse”. The weekend finished up with everyone joined for breakfast and our Friendship Circle, then it was time to go! Until next time, Special Love families!
