Siblings 2017-10-06T08:59:33+00:00

While the parents of a young cancer patient understandably spend much of their time focusing on the needs of their sick child, the healthy siblings sometimes feel guilty, invisible, or ignored. As brothers and sisters experience the same emotional upheaval as parents, they may have less capacity to cope. Special Love’s unique camps for siblings become an important outlet as siblings adjust to a new family routine.

Brass Camp

Our BRASS (BRothers And SiSters) Camp offers activities like campfires, canoeing, and sports, along with camaraderie and peer empathy — an open dialog among campers and counselors to ensure siblings going through the cancer experience are enveloped in the same support system as their parents and their sick brothers or sisters.

BRASS Weekend

Just as the week-long BRASS Camp offers campers a week-long respite from their sibling’s cancer struggle, BRASS Weekend gives brothers and sisters a short vacation at the Northern Virginia 4-H Center in Front Royal, Virginia.
